The team I worked with on the planning, design and installation of this one were something else. They have far more experience than I do and really tested my knowledge and skills ( I made sure to give them a good laugh slipping over in the muddy garden though)!
The above image shows part of the installation within the loft. You can just see the main hot water storage cylinder on the left, out of shot is the system buffer and the main components you can see are the pumping mix stations for the solar thermal and under floor heating zones.
The heat pump is a fantastic Viessmann unit and is located in the back garden a few meters from the house which is not ideal for a heat pump installation (the closer to the house the better) but with the correct pipework and protection it can still work wonderfully.
Every heat pump installation, be it air to air, air to water or ground source is a compromise between the “perfect” installation and the one the customer can live with.
