We often hear that to have an efficient heat pump you need really big radiators around the property. Well in this short clip we debunk this common misconception with a 1980s bungalow that only required three of the radiators changing for this heat pump installation.
This allowed the system to be designed to run at a maximum heating flow temperature of 42c. This flow temperature has a paper SCOP of 4.21 according to the MCS database. In reality, over the past year, this one has achieved a SCOP of 4.9.
This Hampshire home is just one of many that has benefited from a professionally designed and simplified heat pump system design using modern weather compensation controls.
This one in particular is a Viessmann Vitocal 151a A04 model with the internal hydronic unit and combined 190l hot water cylinder. The previous heating system was a moderately old Baxi system boiler with loft cisterns and was controlled from the traditional on/off room thermostats and a timer.
